The 2010 Yellowstone National Park Quarter will be the second release of the new quarter series known as America the Beautiful Quarters. Yellowstone was established in 1872 as America’s first national park. For the new quarter series it is featured because Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas was a national reservation at an earlier date.

The reverse design selected to depict Yellowstone National Park features the famous geyser Old Faithful with American Bison in the foreground and background of the scene. This design was reviewed favorably by the Citizens Coinage Advisory Co The inscriptions around the outer edge of the coin read “Yellowstone”, “Wyoming”, “E Pluribus Unum”, and the date “2010″.

Yellowstone National Park extends its borders across three states: Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. It became the first National Park on March 1, 1872. The park contains a variety of wildlife and geothermal structures, including the famous Old Faithful natural geyser.

The Yellowstone Quarters will be released into circulation in June 2010.
