In the years 1999 - 2008 the US Mint issued a series of circulation quarter dollar coins, called the series of 50 states. On the reverse of each coin is depicted one of the American states. The purpose of this series was to create a new generation of coins - circulation coins with collector's value. The coins were issued 5 times a year, in the order in which the states joined the Union. The reverses relate to the unique history, traditions and symbols of each of the individual states. All of the coins are are inscribed with the state name and the year of accession to the Union at the top, and at the bottom the year of publication and the sentece E pluribus unum (From many, one).
