| This
silver commemorative coin depicting Caucasian Owl has been issued by
the Central Bank of Armenia under the International Program “Wild World
of Caucasus”. The Program includes animals that are protected under the
Red Book of Armenia. Caucasian Owl is a rare and relic
species for the Armenian fauna. It dwells in the mixed, oak-dominated
forests of the Khosrov river valley. The number of Caucasian Owl is strictly limited and makes up several nesting couples in all. Protection
of this species is fixed in the Armenian hunting legislation and is
organized within the territory of the Khosrov reserve. Designed by Roussana and Andrzey Nowakowscy. Minted in the Mint of Poland. |
