Product of the Day

In the years 2010-2021 United States Mint will issue a new series of quarters - National Parks. Officially, the program was named "America the Beautiful Quarters". It will run for 11 years and this date includes 56 new coins. Every year 5 new pieces will be issued, and on the last year the Mint will issue an additional last quarter. A new series of circulation quarter coins was proposed on 04.06.2008. The series will depict the emblems of national parks and other national sites in each of the states and dependent territories. On 23.12.2008 President G. Bush approved the series. The law regulating the issuance of new coins is known as America's Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008. The National Parks series will be released in the order of their establishment. Optionally, 112 quarters may be issued during the timespan of 22 years. In parallel to the circulation coins, five ounce silver coins will be issued (Ag.999).

As in the previous series there will be a portrait of George Washington placed on the avers, this time renovated by John Flanagan ( the prototype is a portrait of the first quarters of 1932.). Over the years, the Mint introduced some modifications, which can be seen especially on the series of 50 states. The revised version will be closer to the original, but at the same time will be smaller in order to fit additional inscriptions.
